Which would be better to buy (processor)

I am going to be buying a processor in the next month, which would be a better purchase, a Pentium D 940/950 or the inetl core 2 duo (conroe) e6300/e6400

The intel core 2 duo e6400 would be the way to go.. Even the E6300 is faster than the fastest Pentium D which would be the pentium D 930. On the new core 2 duo chips dont let the processor speed fool you. They are a totally different family of processors its like going from a pentium 3 to pentium 4 for example. :whistling:

yeah i know, the highest pD is the Pentium D 960 which is 3.8 ghz, but its a single core split into two, while the conroes are two single procs combined into one, would the dif between the 960 and the 2.13 core 2 be a big one tho

If you wanna check out processors stacking up against other ones, Sisoftware Sandra 2007 has a good list of processors to seee how they stack up. You can also benchmark the heck out of you computer whenever you get it built too. :whistling:

The core2s are alot better than the pentDs, which isnt all that hard in the first place as they are what the PentDs should have been in the first place.
