Hi,

My DVD/CD Drive isnt working.

I can see it in the BIOS but not in My Computer
The tray opens ok

In Device manger it has a yellow exclamation mark next to it i click on it it says " Windows cannot load the devicxe driver for this hardware. The driver my be corrupted or missing"

The DVD/CD drive is a NEC DVD_RW ND-3530A

I have checked NEC's website but they have nothing for my model of drive :whistling:

IM running XP HOME SP2

I have disabled the device and rebooted but still the problem exits.

Please help

Thanks

Hi

First thing to try is this :
Go to Start->Run and type devmgmt.msc & click OK
In device manager, locate the optical drive in question & click on it once to select it.
Select 'uninstall' from the Action menu & uninstall the drive
Next, click on 'Scan for hardware changes' in the Action menu & let it detect & reinstall the drive

Let me know if this solves the problem

It could b that the cable is not sitting right.
try 2 check the jumpers or try 2 change it around
allso check that your IE cable is not backwards. it can cause wierd things 2 happen (from experiance).
