Because I'm sure this has something to do with it, I have recently downloaded FireFox and after downloading FireFox I have noticed that when I go to sites which use Media Player (which I already have on my computer) it won't run the player and asks me to download the plug in plays needed......so I went ahead re-installed media players since it said that's what was missing aparently.....of course media player still did not work, but that's not my concern. I'm thinking that through all of this I somehow freaked out the computer and now it won't update my computer!
When I go to update my computer it states the following message and gives me the following options:

"Files required to use Microsoft Update are no longer registered or installed on your computer. To continue:
-Register or reinstall the files for me now
OR
-Let me read about more steps that might be required to solve the problem"

THIS DOES NOT WORK!! :whistling:

When I go to do the first option it pretend to download and install "files" but then runs again and then states the original problem again.
When I went to try the second option it won't even work.

Thanks!!

It keeps only giving me the option of saving it to a disk instead of letting me just run it. I can't download it.

I just accepted it as "save to disk" and did it that way. It says I have successfully downloaded that software. What should I do next?

I edited the post, did you download the update filter or the 669KB file

Either way, find the file then install it

It didn't say exactly...all it says is Update for Windows XP (KB922582). I downloaded whatever it was.

Can you find the file and install it, if not, try the download again and make a note of where it is saving to so you can install it

You will probably need to reboot before trying updates

It was on my desktop. I did open and run it. It said the update was successful. What should I do know? Am I always going to have an issue with downloading updates now?
