I use XP professional and bootup is slow. I keep on reading that 'stopping programms from auto bootup will help.' My question is, 'what programms can I block and how do I do it?' please remember folks, I'm an old guy, and definately not a computer whizz kid. So, please reply in a simple way if that is possible. Thanks in advance, Les

Hi, welcome to this site
remember we are working blind so bare with us
to help others reply to your question
if you haven't mentioned it yet:
- what model of computer
- what os, XPpro or home
- how old is it
to topic then
- press keyboard buttons: winkey + r
(runbox command window appears)
- paste this in slot: msconfig
- press: enter
(msconfig window appears)
- click tab: start up
(all your startups are now visible)
(people differ, I like to keep only my protection(antivirus and firewall) starting up before arriving at post so it is a bit of research, then trial and error, here is the place to find what the start are, link below)
- keep startups you want
- disable startups you don't need
- if unsure, check the start in
