installing laptop memory

i have no problem installing memory in my pc, but i have never done it in a laptop.. is it really hard, what do i need to knwo before i install it

if it matters i have a compaq evo N610c and im gonna install a 512 pc2700 ram stick to boost my total mem up to 768

can anyone assist me in doing this or should i just take it to a professional? I would lilke to learn tho as i love computers and everything about them

don't have experience with that particular model, however usually with most modern laptops it's just a small door on the bottom.... usually held on with one screw. They are pretty much idiot proof, in that they are keyed and can only go in in one direction..... however the hardest part is making sure you have compatibile memory.... are you sure yours will use pc2700 ddr? if not go to crucial.com and look it up on their site....

having said all that, if there is not a door on the bottom then it is probably under the keyboard and you may want to take it to someone that has experience.

usually that is all you have to do, though sometimes it will want to go into bios setup... if it does just check that the right amount of ram is listed and then save and exit.... it should list how to do that at the bottom of the screen.

yeah i checked crucial and it recommened that i get pc2700... i got tat badboy at best buy just a while ago.. i got 512 for 49.99.. but mannn that line was long as [bleep]... i waited liked an hour in the cold and i got there at 5 and guess what, they opened at 5... crazy huh....but ill try figuring it out.. thank you tho
