Hiya,
Ok, the printer disconnect and re-connect did not work. it's pretty baffling, because I've seen how to turn the spooler on by using services.msc, but every time I turn it on and then try to add printer, it still says service not running.

The computer seems to be sluggish, as if some background service is running. After I reboot, it takes a long time until I can open my programs, like something is running during startup that needs to end before I can open other stuiff. . Seems to take a few extra seconds to go from one web page to another too.

ALSO...after I disconnected printer to reboot, my monitor is now displaying everying with a yellowish shade to it. All the whites are now a light greenish yellow. I can read the screens ok, but it all is darker. I use the same monitor on another computer and it's fine. So it must be something on my computer (not the monitor), and a reboot did not fix.,..

Ok, I got the monitor thing fixed. I'm too embarrassed to tell you what it was!
Now the print spooler is the only thing left over from the virus. I keep starting the spool service, but when i go to connect my printer (I mean add my printer using Print Manager in control panel), it says spool service not started.

Ok, so I tried the Citirx fix, and I got to system32/spool/printer, but that folder was totally empty.

So I tried again to install my printer. the exact message says "Operation could not be completed. The print spooler service is not running."

I check the spooler on services.msc and it shows that the print spooler service IS started.
