problems with cd drive please help

ive had this problem for nearly a year now. One day my cdrom drive starting stuffing up, windows would not detect it, reset the computer a few times and it was fixed. Then things starting getting worse the cd bay would not even open, so i looked for help on the net and found this thing on the registry saying to delete this values so i did that, and it worked!. but now windows does not detect it and when i press the button it won't open. im running windows xp home.

does anyone no anyway to fix this?
