Any ideas on what's wrong / how to fix it?? nothing at all happenin when I plug it into my home pc...it does work because I used it on college comps

remember we are working blind so bare with us
to help others reply to your question
if you haven't mentioned it yet:
- what model of computer
- what os, XPpro or home = home
- how old is it

- what make of flash memomy
- how many mb


some ideas then:
- insert device in computer
- press keyboard buttons: winkey + r
(run window appears)
- paste this in slot: devmgmt.msc
- press: enter
(device manager window appears)
- look at the usb devices
- see if there are any yellow blobs
(means driver is missing)


- insert device in computer

(disk manager window appears)
- see if your flash memory has been asigned a letter

if you have a laptop and by flash memory you mean USB key, there are some USB keys that need more power than the computer provides, may have to buy a powered usb rack, or put it into another usb port

it doesn't show the flash memory in the usb list and not in diskmgmt either...

If you are plugging the device into one of the front USB ports of the computer, try plugging it into one of the USB ports on the back of the PC once and see if it is recognized then. Some front USB ports on computers just can't give enough power to properly power the device.

If that still doesn't work, then go to START-->RUN and type compmgmt.msc and in the new window that appears, click on DISK MANAGEMENT under the STORAGE heading. Is your device listed on the right? (Note: don't just look at the list on the top, but also look beneath that list where it lists DISK 0, CD-ROM 0, etc... and see if it is listed there as well.)

Then the drive is probably damaged. Is there another computer in your house that you can test it on and make sure it does indeed work, and work properly on the other computer?
