How do i back up files from my desktop to an external hard drive? I run Windows XP Pro and I am [b]trying to back some files up to a Maxtor external hard drive.[size=4]

Just copy them across (drag n drop style)
You dont say what method you have tried or if your getting any error messages.
What files are you trying to back up?
Are you trying to make an image of your system?
Are you using any backup software?
Please give more detail as to what steps you have done so far and what the results were, that way we will be better able to help you.

You can also use the 'Copy/Paste' method.

Highlight the files you want to back up -- right click and choose 'Copy' -- then open the destination folder on the external drive, right-click and choose 'Paste'.
