I have a gateway 400 vtx notebook the power supply was broken off and I replaced the motherboard
when I power it up it comes up to agateway boot up screen that is very dimm and then freezes

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. Do you have a windows install cd or a Gateway recovery cd that you can boot to. You may have to access the bios and change the boot order to boot from CD first. I am assuming you changed to a new motherobard, the identical make, model of the one you replaced, with the same hard drive with os alreay installed? You may need to do a repair install.
