ive got a HP laptop it has a AMD Athlon XP 3000+, 768MB of RAM, 40GB HDD. Basically loading is really slow like startup and then after its loaded its alot faster. The hard drive makes a constant growning sound. Could this be a problem with the Hard drive?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks,

Kurt

Hi. I am not sure what you mean by "growning sound" but if the HD is making strange noise it is probably telling you it is about do die. It would be a good idea to back up any data you want to keep. Then you can try running the hd manufacturers diagnostics on the drive. See what results that gets. It may be time to replace the drive.
