What is the difference between types of sockets? This is the mobo I would like to get but it has an AM2 socket. Is this compatable with my pc hardware?

Most likely the motherboard you have currently is a 939 socket, but we would need you to provide us with the model # for your current motherboard to be certain. You can find the model number if you take off the side panel on your computer and look for it on the motherboard. The model number will be written in white and will have a dash '-' somewhere in it.

Your RAM and CPU wont work the socket type need for the CPU is 939 and the ram is DDR and AM2 uses DDR2.
