Hey guys, I'm having a lot of problems with my computer. First off, there is this constant pop-up for windows installer, and I just cant get rid of it. Every time I hit cancel, it says its cancelling and just stays. I have done a system restore to before it was there, and still it pops up. And no, there is no CD in the drive. I think it may have stemmed from some external bluetooth and software I installed, but still I uninstalled it completely and its still there. This is one of many problems that occur, such as the taskbar disappears, I can see the taskbar but nothing stores on it, etc. I have an anti-virus program (symantec anti-virus) provided for me by the university, but its now disabled (for no apparent reason!). Also, I still cant install that external bluetooth without it messing up my entire pc the second I restart. I am running Windows XP on a laptop which I recently purchased off eBay. I am starting to rage, and often contemplate throwing my computer against the wall, so any help and advice would be much appreciated. Also, I am not great with computers, so please spell it out for me if possible. Thanks again guys. Here's the Hijack this log:

Hi I looked at your hijackthis log and in my personal opinion there doesnt seem to be anything to be wrong but you should get a second opinion from a administrator or trusted tech, if this turns out to be a malware problem you need to post this in the malware section in the forums.

well you try to remember wat you were doing or downloading at the time windows installer pop up

cause you do have a lot of process running and lots at start up

whats your cpu usage

do this

CTRL....ALT...and ...DELETE

under the process tab look to see how many processes are running and look at bottom of task manager and check whats the percentage of your cpu usage

I ran a quick check on your hijack this log and there seems to be no malware on it, if you do have malware hijack this isnt finding it.

I think i know partially what it is. I usually use firefox so i didnt notice, but every time i open a new window in internet explorer it pops up, and the window takes forever to pop up. HOWEVER, this is not the only cause of it. sometimes it iwll just pop up...hope this helps

Do you know why it wont run? When you try and run it right below your toolbar a message should appear saying it is blocking active x you should tell it to install it and then it should initiate.

hello and welcome, to g's2go.

hopefully you have this resolved by now, however if you are still having issues and suspect that it is malware related I would start with our malware forum and see if they can make sure you don't have any malware installed.

you can try Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

you can find the download and information at this site

i believe you have a bad installation that windows installer will continue to pop-up to complete a bad installation it does not recognize so it just pops up and stays there
