Hi all,

For the past 2 years i have had 512k ADSL internet. Recently, i have upgraded to 1.5k ADSL. However, When i d/l files they are still d/l at 512k. If i do a test on my speed it tells me that i am running at 512k.

If i d/l more than 1 file, lets say 3 or 4 files at the same time then the speed goes uptp 1.5.

Is this normal or is my Windows playing up???. Is there a option were i can reconfigure my speed?

Regards,

Peter.

You won't need to download the complete file, it will just give an example of different servers

If you click the download for Nero here

http://fileforum.bet...Rom/942634103/1

It will likely run slower than from here

http://www.filehippo...nero_7_premium/

It can depend on server load, if you are downloading large updates as soon as they are released, chances are, everyone else is too, and that affects the speed

If you are getting the correct speed when downloading more than one file then it is likely down to the server

You can run this to see if it improves

Prefetch is clickable for more information

Click start then run, type prefetch then press enter, click edit then select all, (all files will highlight), right click any file, click delete, confirm

Click start then all programmes, accessories, system tools to run disc clean up

Reboot

Click start then all programmes, accessories, system tools to run defragmenter

Download, install and run
Tune Up 2006 Trial

Run Tune Up disc clean up

Run Tune Up registry clean up

Disable the anti virus programme then click Optimize and Improve to run Reg Defrag, the screen will lose colour during the process which can take a few minutes and then needs a reboot

Check the anti virus programme is running

Those will have cleared the drive of obsolete software errors

These are suggestions for making the most of the free trial

Click optimize and improve then system optimizer to optimize the computer, select computer with an internet connection from the drop down menu, this also requires a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to accelerate downloads, select the speed just above your actual connection speed, this requires a reboot.

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to run system advisor

Hi Keith,

WOW........what can i say apart from thank you very much!!!!

I clicked on both the Nero links below and saved the file to see what speed i was d/l at. the first ling was about 256k and the second was about 512k.

After doing what you told me to do, not only is my system running better than ever but my d/l was 150k plus.

I cant thank you enough!!!!

Hi Keith,

The final speed should read 1.5kps, not 150k

Thanks again.
