I run Adaware SE at least once per week and sometimes during a full system scan it seems to get stuck scanning IE Favorites. It says it is scanning but it never finishes the scan. I wait and wait but give up and click on Finish. Has this happened to anyone else? What's wrong? :whistling: thanks for any help

Yes, I run Spy Bot too. It works fine. I can try the Adaware in safe mode but I shouldn't have to do that. If anyone has an answer to why it hangs up in scanning IE Favorites I'd sure like to know. thanks :whistling:

If spybot runs and adaware doesn't, use add and remove to uninstall it and then run disc clean up and re-install it

I had a problem like that with a friends PC.
It turned out to be a file system error, running chkdsk fixed it.

ad aware and for that matter any of your tools...all do a better job in safe mode ...but it should finish running in windows...the reason I asked you to try was to see if it was ad aware itself that was corrupt ...take Keiths advise remove and reinstall it...

Chkdsk found nothing wrong so I uninstalled and re-installed Adaware. This next scan did fine with no hang ups! You all are great! Thanks a bunch! :whistling:
