Do I have a bug in my registry?

My computer is getting slower & slower. I have run (& try to regularly run) AdAware SE, spybot s&d, spywareblaster, bought & run AVG, spyguard, cleanup & ATFcleaner. What am I doing wrong? What is going on with my system? It's a laptop & getting slower & slower & slower. I have defragged & cleaned up anything I can think of. Also, I tried to remove (thru the program) SBC yahoo software so I could install AT&T Yahoo software but the system won't remove, either thru the SBC software or add/remove programs, the SBC yahoo software & if I try to install the AT&T Yahoo software, it says that a restart is required before the software can continue. A restart does not fix this.

I've had a look at your HJT log and straight away I can see a huge amount of running processes including 7 antimalware programmes, all running in real-time and all scanning the same files over and over. The rule is one antivirus, Yahoo is fine, and one antimalware, you must choose which one. So in this fix, I will make the adjustments necessary for your HJT log, which is your registry, and then unload all of these superfluous scanners.

These are the ones to which I refer:

Windows Defender
Winpatrol
AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5
AOL anti Spyware App
Spybot - Search & Destroy TeaTimer
BigFix
SpywareGuard

Please choose the one you wish to use for real-time scanning and disable all of the others; they can be used for "on-demand" scanning in future.

You also have 32 HJT 04 entries in your log. All of these are running all the time and using resources. To give you an idea of the necessary ones, I have 3 essential and 2 optional making 5 in total.

You will also experience a dramatic slowdown in Windows XP at 85% hard disk used space capacity.

Rescan with HijackThis. Close all programmes leaving only HijackThis running. Place a checkmark or tick against the following:

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Please delete your temporary files.

Click on START > RUN > type in cleanmgr and hit ENTER

You will see a window asking you to choose your harddrive (most likely C: Drive)

Click it and Windows will now scan the drive and show you the results

Make sure the following are checked:Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files and
Recycle Bin
Compress Old Files (if you want more disk space)
Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.

Next, go to Start>Run>type in %temp% hit Enter and delete the content of all the temp folders shown (only the content, not the folder). A couple of files may be in memory and will not therefore delete, this is normal.

Click start then run, type prefetch then press enter, click edit then select all, (all files will highlight), right click any file, click delete, confirm

Click start then all programmes, accessories, system tools to run disc clean up

Reboot

Click start then all programmes, accessories, system tools to run defragmenter

Download, install and run Tune Up 2006 Trial It is a 30-day free trial.

Run Tune Up disc clean up

Run Tune Up registry clean up

Disable your anti virus programme then click Optimize and Improve to run Reg Defrag, the screen will lose colour during the process which can take a few minutes and then needs a reboot

Check the anti virus programme is running after the reboot.

Those will have cleared the drive of obsolete software errors

These are suggestions for making the most of the free trial

Click optimize and improve then system optimizer to optimize the computer, select computer with an internet connection from the drop down menu, this also requires a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to accelerate downloads, select the speed just above your actual connection speed, this requires a reboot.

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to run system advisor

Please post a fresh HJT log from normal mode, so I can see the changes made
