Streaming media problem

I just bought a new Dell in July & am having an issue with streaming video/audio. Almost everytime I try & stream something it stops part way through, says it's buffering but yet never starts streaming again. I've tried disabling my firewall (McAfee), changing the media player settings but nothing ever works. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
