hi there team, i have a problem with my computer...whenever i try to open a broswer (ie or firefox) to load a webpage i am automatically redirected to another website, what looks like some kind of spyware. i can't open any wesite without this happening.

some of the sites that come up are: cool-jerks.com and neopharmacy.net, but the original website address still shows up in the address bar...odd...

i have run spyware, virus scan and also turned system restore on and off to delete backup files, but all to no avail.

i am posting this hijack file of the infected computer from another computer, as i cant even get your site up on the infected one! :whistling:

here is the log from the infected computer

Hello again T110MAS.

Looks like you've definitely got a Wareout Infection there. Let's get it and also an uninstall list.
  • You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.
  • Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
    http://downloads.sub.../Fixwareout.exe
    http://www.bleepingc.../Fixwareout.exe
    • Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
    • The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
    • Once the desktop loads a text file will open (report.txt), you can close it - the file has already been saved.
  • Run HijackThis. Click "Do a System Scan Only", and place a check next to the following items (if found):

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{56970B12-F8DC-4823-8139-5CF5591FBBDB}: NameServer = 85.255.116.90,85.255.112.207
    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{6F3B71A9-995B-4597-9908-FBE03658730A}: NameServer = 85.255.116.90,85.255.112.207
    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{C8241D9E-5B28-4CF4-8623-7CF3734F23A3}: NameServer = 85.255.116.90,85.255.112.207
    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{CB902533-8DD3-4ADF-9F22-B9134D66671B}: NameServer = 85.255.116.90,85.255.112.207
    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{EA064114-FEED-4FA8-8472-74293C8B16A1}: NameServer = 85.255.116.90,85.255.112.207

    Click FIX CHECKED. Close HijackThis.
  • Let's get an Uninstall List from HijackThis:
    • Open HijackThis, click Config, click Misc Tools
    • Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
    • Click "Save List" (generates uninstall_list.txt)
    • Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.
  • Please re-open HiJackThis and scan and save a new log file.
  • Post Logs
    • report.txt (from the Wareout Fix)
    • New Hijack This Log

hey there tech1.

thanks verymuch for getting back to me on here and for the info.

however i managed to get rid of the problem myself (after about 3 hours!)

turned out the "startnow.com" was the problem...it wasn't until i posted the hijackthis log on here thati even saw it was there...thought it looked dodgey, so i started looking into it.

startnow.hyperbar as it is also known...it attacks the start page on browsers...

i manually deleted files in regedit, then ran spyare doctor, which took care of the rest.

thanks for replying however, and if the problem does come back i will certainly try your way instead.

Hey T110MAS,

That's great news. Go ahead and post another Hijack This Log and let's make sure Spyware Doctor got it all.

If so we'll get you some ending tips that will keep you protected.
