I've actually been considering a clean slate for a few weeks now, just because the computer is almost two years old and has accumulated quite a bit of extra programs and junk over time. The main thing for me is to back up itunes to an external hard drive and then I think I will proceed with the reformat. I'll let you know how it turns out!
