:tazz: The other day, I switched on my computer to find that my webpage had reset from the original of www.google.co.uk back to www.hotoffers.info. I changed the webpage back to the original google.co.uk however, when i reopened IE i found that the webpage had reverted back to www.hotoffers.info. I read up about this on the previous post and followed the instructions yet, nothing has worked.

http://www.geekstogo...ses-t12782.html

If anyone could help, it would be most appreciated as this webpage contains pornographic material. I managed to restrict the webpage so that it doesn't show this seems to work, but I want google as my homepage!!! ;)

Sorry about that broken link - my dodgy copy and pasting. OK, first of all, open Spybot S&D, click Mode>Advanced>Tools>Resident and remove the check from the Tea Timer box. You can reinstate it later but we don't want it interfering with what we need to do. Reboot when done.

Click here to download Pocket Killbox by Option^Explicit. Extract it from the zip file then double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.

Select the Delete on reboot option.

In the 'Full Path of File to Delete' box, copy and paste the following, clicking the 'Delete File' button (red circle with a white X) after pasting:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\systr.dll

It will prompt you to reboot, press the YES button.

After restarting, with only HijackThis running, scan and when complete, remove the following entry by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.hotoffers.info/237/
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)
O9 - Extra button: Microsoft AntiSpyware helper - {518376D8-92F4-483A-B336-74948D00F565} - (no file) (HKCU)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Microsoft AntiSpyware helper - {518376D8-92F4-483A-B336-74948D00F565} - (no file) (HKCU)
O16 - DPF: {11120607-1001-1111-1000-110199901123}

Reboot again when done, rescan with HJT and post a new log here.

Fix this with HJT:

O1 - Hosts: 64.91.255.87 www.dcsresearch.com

Reboot and let me know how it is now. I see you are running two AV's - not recommended - can cause conflicts.

Actually these are still there from my first fix:

O9 - Extra button: Microsoft AntiSpyware helper - {518376D8-92F4-483A-B336-74948D00F565} - (no file) (HKCU)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Microsoft AntiSpyware helper - {518376D8-92F4-483A-B336-74948D00F565} - (no file) (HKCU)

Remove with HJT, they are not legitimate.

You are clean now - how is it running?

Your other problem, better to try one of the other forums here - I'm kinda specialised in malware removal.
