windows 2000 unable to boot

my windows 2000 install on laptop pc cannot boot. will not boot when i use safemode, last known good config

and does not show any blue screen to let me know what the error is. when it starts it runs bios and hangs. i dont know if the hard drive is bad.

i want to know if someone can help show me how to use recovery console in win 2000 to fix the problem. thanks
