Hey there andrewclone,

As I said before I am in training, I have already made a re-vised fix for your log... But I have to wait for my teacher to confirm if I can post it or not. This is for the safety of your computer.

Please be patient, it shouldn't be to long now.

Thats great... It is training right here at Geeks To Go, it isn't easy but you start to get use to it. GTG can use more malware staff.

Read here on how to become a GeekU trainee.

Hello and Welcome to Geeks To Go! I'm Spike and I will be helping you get rid of all that nasty malware. We will get your computer back to shape in no time. Please do not be impatient, you have not even waited 12 hours for my reply. Some users have to wait over 4 days and if you want a quality response then you have to please be patient. Thanks...

Read this post carefully...

Download and install CleanUp!
NOTE: Do NOT run this program if you have XP Professional 64 bit edition. If you're unsure please do not run it! Do not RUN it yet, we will use it later on in the fix.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ImInstaller_IncrediMail] C:\DOCUME~1\Mary\LOCALS~1\Temp\ImInstaller\IncrediMail\IncrediMail_Install.exe -startup -product IncrediMail

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Then close Hijackthis.

Boot into Safe Mode:

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please delete this folder using Windows Explorer:

Goto:
>Start
>Run
>Type in "Explorer"

C:\Documents and Settings\Mary\Local Settings\Temp\ImInstaller\

Open Cleanup! that we downloaded earlier on by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Delete Prefetch files (if present)
  • Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to log-off/reboot at the end, if it does please do so.

After all that please post back a new hijackthis log.

I was suppose to first post in "Check My Fix" so that my teacher could make sure I was posting the right stuff.

I was busy going through your thread and responded to it by mistake.

Hard to explain, it's a Geek U thing.

Sorry for the confusion. Shweet :whistling:

Hey again andrewclone, you computer seems to be clean of any infection. Do you have any other problems or questions?

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:

Detect and Remove Programs:
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
Prevention Programs:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
Other necessary Programs:
  • AntiVirus Program<= An AntiVirus program is a must! Whether it is a free version like AVG or Anti-Vir, or a shareware version like Norton or Kapersky, this is a must have.
  • Firewall<= A firewall is definatley a must have. Two good free versions are Kerio and ZoneLabs.
  • More Secure Browser<= Internet Explorer is not the most secure and best browser. There are safer and better alternatives available. I recommend Firefox, however Opera and SlimBrowsers are good as well.
And also see TonyKlein's good advice
So how did I get infected in the first place?

Goodluck :whistling:
