my computer is [bleep]ed to the max yo. i wanna reset the whole thing completely. i cant do a system restore. i cant even open My Computer wit out my explorer shutting down. i only have 756 megabytes left. that [bleep] automatic updates tried installing sp2 witout my permission and it totally screwed up my whole system. how can i reset this. i have windows xp. i tried to format it. it cant do it. i get a error message.

have you tried safemode to fix your problem?

f8 on startup.

Need more info on the computer.
Store bought or home made?
How much ram?
Size of HD?
Floppy?
Any CD roms?
Do you have a recovery CD or an original XP cd?
How did you attempt the reformat?
Have you backed up your important files? Because if you reformat you will lose everything.

You stated Windows tried to install SP2. Was it a successful install. If so you can always uninstall SP2.
