All the versions of vista have DX and its not 10 but it isnt nine either its somewhere in between we wont see dx10 until the home versions of vista are out, also if you get the RTM we cant help you either as you shouldnt have it, the only versions out are the business versions.

I got a BSOD 2day i was shocked vista and blue screens it was a nasty one saying that the registry was missing or something it flashed up and dumped then disapeared. Im pretty sure its my RAM though as its not that great. Another thing is i reinstalled vista and i ran COD2 and it played soo much smoother without the ATI drivers. Will direct x 10 work with direct x 9 hardware? or do you have to buy a new graphics card?

Yeah it says DX10 but on the RTM and RCs but its not complete and there it will be getting a full update when the home and ultimate versions are released.

There is going to be a new versions of DX9 version L it will have all the applicable features from 10 but work on dx9 its not released yet and wont be till dx10 is fully released.

On COD2 i get punkbuster errors. Is this because im running 64 bit vista? I heard that PB isnt supported on 64 bit OS's

I wouldn't know i tend to avoid punkbuster games, i would try contacting punkbuster support they might have a patch for it or a 64bit version if it is punkbuster incompatible. The vista firewall is a little tougher and twitchier than the XP one you'll need to set it to let PB through along with possibly setting PB to compatibility mode or to run as admin.

Then how did you get the RTM(Release to Manufacturer) there are only two versions available legally and illegaly of build 6000 the RTM which unless you are a manufacturer or MS employee you shouldnt have a key to or the released business versions which as far as i know havent been sold in single licence form and you should in theory be getting support from MS and your own tech employees. Until its released to the home market its going to be very difficult to establish people who have it legally.

It's called Technet and I think we should refrain from arguing about who has and how peope have aquired RTM.

We have to be very sure, we go through the exact same process for XP we discuss every avenue of how people can acquire it so that we can spot illegal copies. Also by definition if you got it from technet you shouldnt be asking or need to ask us for help someone coming to us pretty obviously didnt get it from the MS IT professional support service
