Hey!

I just built a new P4 3.06Ghz HTT
on a P13G+ Board
It has 512MB RAM
a 80gb HDD

I installed the cpu&fan on the board, installed power supply, connected a HDD and a DVD-ROM.

I started the PC went in Bios put optimal default values changed first boot device to HDD and Second to cd-rom.

Now its starts up normal.
Tells me to click any button to start from cd.
Then i see Inspecting computer material.
its jams there for a while. Then it restarts.

Now i'm really mixed i have no idea what to do.

The first thing to try is reset the BIOS so the first boot device is the cdrom(dvdrom) drive. When you restart the computer after saving your settings it should boot to the windows CD and start installing. If it stops again i would clean the windows cd and see if it has any noticeable scratches on the disk. Clean the disk with a soft terry or microfiber cloth in straight strokes from the center to outside edge. Do NOT clean with wipes around in a circle on the disk. Retry the disk if it is not scratched real bad. If windows installs you can go back into the BIOS later and reset it to boot from the hard drive first. A lot of my computer's i leave set to boot from the cdrom drive first so i can run the LIVE linux cd's on the computer to try them out.

I did have a athlon computer that just would not install windows on the HD. After trying everything i could think of i finally made a set of boot floppys from the Microsoft file to do this with and finally got XP to install. I had to make a second set of floppy disks( from the same exe file) as the 3rd disk of the 6 disks was bad the first time i made a set.
