Hi, i've been having a lot of trouble with my laptop that is the Windows XP edition. It was fine until a couple weeks ago when the computer started shutting down by itself. It could be because I was surfing the web and i also downloaded 5 songs. But the computer shut down a couple days later without showing any sign of previous malfunctioning. I was working on a paper and it suddenly restarted by itself. Soon I coudn't even log on without using safe mode because everytime i clicked to start windows normally it would return to the menu where i have to choose one of the options all over again: with the windows safe mode, safe mode with networking...etc. I've tried to use virus scan cd's on safe mode but it doesnt work cus i guess I can't run it on safe mode and i dont have a clue to what virus i have. all i know is that it keeps restarting and every now and then a screen pops up for a half a second saying that the computer is detected something. it disappears so fast i cant even read it. and when i turn it on, it automatically goes to the option menu. please help cus i'm so frustrated with this problem. thank you so much. oh and also i just found out the sound doesnt work for anything and i also tried playing music but the windows media player says that it "cannot play the file because there is problem with my sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer. It might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly. Maybe that is because i'm on safe mode? i don't know. thaks again.

Please Click here!, and follow the recommendations in the guide.

If you're still having trouble, We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool, Hijack This. Follow the instructions in step five of this guide, and reply here with your log.

Most of what Hijack This lists lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.
