Hi again

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Double-click smitfraudfix.exe
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

===============

Open HijackThis, click Config, click Misc Tools
Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
Click "Save List" (generates uninstall_list.txt)
Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.

===============

So, in the next reply:
1)Fresh HijackThis log
2)Smitfraud Fix log
3)Uninstall list

Hey jita4tw

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

===================

Please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode, fouble-click smitfraudfix.exe
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.
A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Warning : running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

=====================

Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following (if present):

Cowabanga by OIN
Safety Alert 2006
Viewpoint Media Player
Command

Please note any other programs that you dont recognize in that list in your next response

Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), please delete these folders (if present):

C:\Program Files\OIN(Anything with OIN)
C:\Program Files\Safety Alert 2006
C:\Program Files\Viewpoint
C:\WINDOWS\IA

After that, Reboot.

=======================

1. Download ComboFix.exe using either of these links:

* http://download.blee...Bs/combofix.exe

* http://www.techsuppo...ls/combofix.exe

2. Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.

3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log & a fresh HJT log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

=======================

What I need:
1)Smitfraud Fix Log
2)Combofix Log
3)Fresh HijackThis log

Just a little step here...

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [rfuo] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\rfuo\rfuom.exe

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), please delete these folders (if present):

C:\Program Files\Common Files\rfuo

After that, Reboot.

When done with that post a fresh HijackThis log, and tell me how things are running.

The pop ups software seams to be gone. The only problem I am having is during Windows boot I get a window

Window Installer
Preparing to Install

then a window

Norton Antivirus 2005
Does Not Support the Repair
Feature Please Uninstall & Reinstall

I have Norton Antivirus 2005 and appears to be operating normal?

Also a window flashes up then disappears

Bordland
Sysyb6.exe

Thank, Paul

Hello again :blink:

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O2 - BHO: edit_html Class - {14D1A72D-8705-11D8-B120-0040F46CB696} - C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\11291101.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {6113DAFD-3068-349A-3D74-3F31B6C1FACA} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\kpbwjfn.dll (file missing)
O4 - Global Startup: run_startmenu.cmd

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis.

======

As for the Norton error, why don't you try the items on this link.

======

For the error of "Bordland" and "Sysyb6.exe" did you mean infact "Borland" and "Syswb6.exe"?

======

Post back with how those instructions went, the answer to my question and a fresh HijackThis log please :whistling:

Hello again

Those errors that you are getting with "Borland" and "syswb6.exe" are connected to your WE-Blocker, you are going to have to do a reinstall of the WE-Blocker.

Tell me how that goes, and any other problems you are having, also post a fresh HijackThis log.
