How do those specs compare to the other computers?

Also, are running antivirus and anti-spyware regularly? I know you said this machine had an infection some time back.

When the internet connection drops, are there any events in the system or application logs that might help diagnose the cause?

Is the Windows firewall on?

most are better than myn :whistling:

im always running AVG, and i scan weekly with Ad-Aware
Yea the Windows Firewall is on

Its had a few infections in the past, but none recently.
i think it had one major one, which involved a worm that spread over tym
and then its had minor infections which have been cleaned up.

Im looking to get new HD, cos after all the stuf its put up with it could be on its way out

There is a messege that pops up when it does cut out, which displays a short message
and an error code b4 it, ill place it on here if u want, cant atm though as im at colege

...other than that i dont think there are any logs, wouldnt kno where to look reli...

Yes, please post the exact error that you get when the internet connection is dropped.

To view the event log, go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer.

Maybe your NIC is having trouble. Are the drivers up-to-date? Do you have the time or inclination to swap NICs with another of your computers to rule that out?

I found this at another DSL site regarding error 619.

This error can be resolved by following these steps:
· Restart your computer and wait until all applications have completely loaded before trying to reconnect.
· Check your modem and phone cables are connected securely.
· If your problem has still not been resolved uninstall and reinstall your Broadband modem. For information on how to do this please refer to the ADSL modem setup instructions or the installation cd that was provided with your modem
