Hello Geek To Go Staff:

First of all, thank you for this GREAT forum.

By the number of posts, you have literally helped thousands in their battle against these terrible trojans, worms and viruses.

I definitely hope you can help me.

Now...I am a novice on the subject of trojans, worms and viruses and therefore, I have no idea what I am searching for or what has attached itself to my computer. I have followed your starter guide and no problems were found until after the Panda Active Scan was completed.

The following are the reports from the Panda Active Scan and the HijackThis logs:

This is the Panda Active Scan Report:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtqq.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\tmp1FC.tmp.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\tmp2.tmp.dll

Hi tonyb32

Welcome to GTG! :whistling:

*** Before we can use Hijack This to fix anything, I need you to download it again. Right now you have it in a temporary folder. It will not function properly that way. Please redownload it like so:

Please do this:

* Click here to download HJTsetup.exe
  • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
* Also open Hijack This and click on the "Open the Misc Tools section" button. Click on the "Open Uninstall Manager" button. Click the "Save List" button. After you click the "Save List" button, you will be asked where to save the file. Pick a place to save it then the list should open in notepad. Copy and paste that list here.

*** Before you post those logs, please do the following:

* Click here to download Combofix.
  • Save the comofix.exe file to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the combofix file to begin the removal.
  • At the first prompt press the Y key on your keyboard then press Enter to continue.
  • Follow the prompts until the fix is complete
  • Do not mouse click combofix's window while it is running. This may cause it to stall.
  • When the fix is finished it will produce a log file.
  • Come back here to this thread and post the log from the Combofix along with a new Hijack This log.

Hello Flrman 1:

You have been a great help!

My computer is running much faster and there are no popups or viruses taking over my speakers.

The following is the latest Active Scan Report:

* Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Put a tick by Delete on Reboot.
  • Copy the following list of files to clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtqq.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\tmp1FC.tmp.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\tmp2.tmp.dll

  • Next in Killbox go to File > Paste from clipboard
  • Click on the All Files button.
  • Next click on the button that has the red circle with the white X in the middle.
  • It will ask for confimation to delete the files on next reboot and ask you if you want to reboot now.
  • Click Yes and let the computer reboot.
* After it reboots, go here and do the BitDefender online virus scan.
  • Click "I Agree" to agree to the EULA.
  • Allow the ActiveX control to install when prompted.
  • Click "Click here to scan" to begin the scan.
  • Please refrain from using the computer until the scan is finished.
  • When the scan is finished, click on "Click here to export the scan results"
  • Save the report to your desktop then come back here and attach it to your next reply along with a new Hijack This log..
Let me know how the pc is behaving now. This should finish us up here if you have no further issues.

You're Welcome! :whistling:

* If I had you use Killbox to delete any files, go ahead and delete the C:\!Killbox folder then empty the Recycle Bin.

* Check this out for info on how to tighten your security settings and some good free tools to help prevent this from happening again.

* Go to Windows update and install all "High Priority Updates".

* Now turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn System Restore back on and create a restore point.

To create a restore point:

Single-click Start and point to All Programs.
Mouse over Accessories, then System Tools, and select System Restore.
In the System Restore wizard, select the box next the text labeled "Create a restore point" and click the Next button.
Type a description for your new restore point. Something like "After trojan/spyware cleanup". Click Create and you're done.
