i have been pondering over the past few weeks on the cheapest way to get vista. I want it for the new machine that i will be building for univeristy, as far as i can tell there are 2 ways to get vista.
Buy oem xp that comes with the coupon upgrade programs for a free upgrade to home premium (as far as i can tell this is vista striped of the business stuff.) i can find these disks on www.ncix.com for around 180 dollars.
It seems rather strange that the complete install version of vista premium will be selling for around 300 cdn when i can get xp + free vista upgrade coupon for half of the price. is there anything i am missing?
any advices?

Not to rain on anyone's parade but if you had jumped on the this offer last week you could of got a free copy of Vista business and Office 2007
http://www.powertogether.com/
Luckily I completed both required webcasts before they ran out.

... Otherwise if your attending a University and have a MSDNAA account you could get a copy for free as well. Do some asking around. Vista Business will be available but no confirmed info on if Ultimate will be available for upgrad or not.
