There are 2 websites that now give me problems in internet explorer 6, and I never had a problem with those websites before. I get an error saying that internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. I ended up installing Firefox and can access the websites thru there. Does anyone know if there is a way to solve problem in internet explorer?

Welcom to Geeks to Go.

Do you have antivirus software? Is it current and do have you run a full scan? If you suspect an infection, post to the Malware forum. Start here: http://www.geekstogo..._Log-t2852.html

How long have you been getting the error? Can you pinpoint anything unusual that might have happened with the PC just prior to the error? Have you tried a system restore to a day prior to the that error?

Have you cleared cooked and temporary internet files (including offline files) lately?

You might also run a registry cleaner. If you don't have one, I recommend Easy Cleaner by ToniArts. It's freeware and can be downloaded here: http://www.toniarts.com/products.php. I've never had any issues with the registry after using it (I've used it for several years). *** But please backup your registry and/or create a restore point before deleting anything from the registry.

Please post back if with an update.

I have just been getting the error about a week. I can't figure out anything that could have happened to the PC. I have McCaffe antivirus and always run a full scan every day. I tried clearing cookies and temp internet files and did system restore and this didn't help. I also did disk defragment and also didn't help.
I also called Microsoft and they had me try a few things, and I'm not sure if one of them was registry cleaner, but I can try that one. Thanks.
