Hello, when my girlfriend started up her computer this morning, she got the following error message:

"Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible causes of this error include insufficent secuirty rights or a corrupt local profile. If the problem persists contact your network administrator.

DETAIL - An I/O operation initiated by the register failed unrecoverably. The regisrty could not read in, write out, or flush one of the files that contain the system's image of the registy.

Windows cannot find the local profle and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off."

Can anyone provide any insight on why this would happen and how it can be fixed?

Look at this MS article and see if it applies: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/812339.

If necessary, you can create a new profile and copy everything from the old one. See this MS article: http://support.micro...b;en-us;Q811151.
