Emery - thank you for all of your help!
when i select the C partition and followed the directions, it said it can be installed but that i will lose any information that already exists on that partition, so i exited before it made any changes. so i don't think this solution is going to work for me. but i want to thank you and let you know how much i appreciate all your help on this issue. for anyone else out there reading this, this is still unresolved, and if anyone has any other suggestions, i would appreciate them immensely! thanks again Emery!

I can't think of anything else that can fix your problem, but I'm not the smartest one out there. There's so many other great experts here at Geekstogo.
I am sure one of them will come along and get you back up and running before your paper is due saturday.
Good luck to you,
Emery.
