I have a Panasonic Lumix digital camera and the Scanner and Camera Wizard won't recognize it. I've had it for a while and it used to work fine. A couple of weeks ago, I took my computer to a PC specialist and had the hard drive wiped clean b/c of some serious malfunctions. Now, when I hook up the USB cable and downloaded the camera software....nothing! Anyone have any suggestions?

How do I figure out if my USBs are working?

I looked under Device manager and it reported that my USB's are working properly. What else could be happening?

If Device Manager says USB is working fine that means it can't tell if there is a problem which is entirely possible. Try plugging any other USB device into that same hub and see if it works OK.

Sometimes the drivers for USB hubs get corrupted. You can try uninstalling your USB hubs and windows xp will find them as new hardware on the reboot and reinstall the drivers.

Also try plugging in an mp3 player or an ipod that should give you a good indication if they work because they are somewhat similar to a camera

just a question, when you originally had this device working did you install it with a cd installation, because if the tech wiped the old harddrive understandably the old instaltion of your device has gone and needs to be reinstalled again with the cd that came with it, if you never installed this device in the first place ignore this idea

as stated by other member here, the device is probably missing its driver, perhaps the quickest way it


- press keyboard buttons: winkey + r
(opens runbox command window)
- paste this in slot: devmgmt.msc
- press: enter
(opens device manager window)
- see if the device has any yellow blobs on its icon
(if yes, then it means either reinstalling the device with the cd, or downloading the driver from the maker's site)
