Okay, so here is what happens. I have a certain config for multiplayer to get the most FPS. I have attached it for any reference.

Problem: Every time I launch Call of Duty 2, the splash screen shows and then it should say "Awaiting Connection 1... 2..." but it doesn't show anything. It is just a black screen and nothing happens. I have to close it using the task manager.

How I have been getting around it: After I close it I run it in safe mode then quit then replace my config_mp.cfg with a backup. This works only for one launch of CoD2. Then it goes back to sucking.

Please help!

NOTE: If you want to look at my config (the screen resolution is 1440x900), rename the extention from TXT to .cfg.

AND YES, I HAVE TRIED REINSTALLING.

Yes, that is what I have always been trying to do. It also happens when I just try to start multiplayer.
