Hello,

Last night I turned off my computer after finishing some college work when suddenly I forgot to put the work onto my flash drive to take with me. So I switch it back on and the Blue Screen Of Death appears...I turned it off and back on again...Blue Screen Of Death...

Usually I only get a blue screen of death once every few months. I restart the computer and it goes away.

Not any more...I need to go into Safe Mode, then run system restore and put my computer back to an earlier date. This works and I can use the computer again.

Does any one know what could be causing this because it is kinda gettin anoying havin to go into system restore everytime to get the pc to work?

Cheers for your help :whistling:

blue screens usually have a stop error with it

and are drivers related but not all of them

so the next time you get a blue screen

write down the stop error number

Its the IRQL_IS_NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS.

Cheers for your help but that link doesnt say anything on how to fix it. I click on one of the links on the page such as "additional information" and it takes me to the very bottom of that webpage but its all white...nothing on it

Unfortunately, this isn't an easy problem to fix - it's trial and error to find the source. Can you pinpoint anything you might have installed (hardware or software) or updated just prior to the blue screens starting? If so, then start with that.

A Stop 0x0A error after Windows XP is already installed

on that page you can read that section

assuming you have installed any type of other device(s)

having the xp cd is the best tool to do any repairs if you dont have the xp cd

then try to obtain one

try to do the following command

command must be pasted in the run box

FROM START>>RUN>>PASTE OR TYPE THIS IN>> chkdsk /f /r CLICK OK

black screen will appear on the flashing bar type the letter y and enter

this chkdsk command will go through 5 steps and the whole process takes about 2 hours

and when its complete it will restart your computer

it is safe to carry out that command

but as far as your work goes

the best thing for you to do is save all your work

create back up disk of your important data

get your hard drive reformatted

after the reformat is done put back your work (reinstall it)

run that command when your not using your computer for a few hours

if you have the xp cd then try to do a repair
