Ive read as much as i can about the MSN virus to avoid doing a new post but i still cant do it! It was an MSN message i opened and it installed some files called telebos and winstall i think.

Avast kept detecting these but could not get rid of them. It detects something called 'C:\lwqojwt.exe', a 'Win32:Trojan-gen. {Other}'

I downloaded Superanti spyware and did a scan. i left it running for over 2 days and it did not finish! Maybe the virus is interfering with it? But it detected some viruses so i finished the scan early and i think it got rid of them. They are not on the desktop anymore. However there are still some problems!!

Itunes runs very shakingly and i have lots of ram! Unless i disable Avast.

I just opened IE and it has installed '888 bar' as a search bar on it. I use firefox normally which does not seem affected.

Tel.exe repeatedly pops up with an error message. I dont know what tel.exe is. It says 'tel.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close'.

Gmail will not open properly.

I have norton security centre but not norton anti virus. I have Avast and superantispyware.

Please help as im really stuck. I can provide some more information if needed. I downloaded hijackthis and the log is below.

Move Hijackthis to a permanent folder. Use the following utility to do so:

Click here to download HJTsetup.exe

• Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
• Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
• By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
• Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
• Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
• Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.

Download ComboFix to your Desktop.

Reboot to Safe mode:

Restart your computer and begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard just before Windows starts to load. If done right a Windows Advanced Options menu will appear. Select the Safe Mode option and press Enter.

Perform the following actions in Safe Mode.

• Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
• When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Please download gmer rootkit detector from Here

• Unzip it and double click the gmer.exe file
• Select rootkit tab.
• Make sure all the boxes on the right of the screen are checked, EXCEPT for ‘Show All’.
• Press scan
• When it has finished press save & post back the log it makes
• Repeat the proces with the Autostarts tab and do the same there

* Click here to download AVG Anti Rootkit and save it to your desktop.

• Double-click on the AVG_AntiRootkit_1.0.0.13.exe file to run it.
• Click "I Agree" to agree to the EULA.
• By default it will install to "G:\Program Files\GRISOFT\AVG Anti-Rootkit Beta".
• Click "Next" to begin the installation then click "Install".
• It will then ask you to reboot now to finish the installation.
• Click "Finish" and your computer will reboot.
• After it reboots, double-click on the AVG Anti-Rootkit Beta shortcut that is now on your desktop.
• Click on the "Perform in-depth search" button to begin the scan.
• The scan will take a while so be patient and let it complete.
• When the scan is finished, click the "Save result to file" button.
• Save the scan results to your desktop then come back here to copy and paste the results in your next reply to this thread.

My computer now will not start in normal mode! It brings up a message after the intial windows part which says 'STOP: c000031a {Fatal System Error} THe windows logon process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000142 (0x00000000 0x 000000000). THe system has been shut down.

It does boot up in safe mode but i cannot use the internet in that mode so icant download anything! I could get the programme from a memory stick i suppose from a healthy computer and transfer it to mine in safe mode- would that be any help?

Lets remove some of these trojans manually:

Set Explorer to view Hidden Files and Folders:

• Right-click your Start button and go to "Explore".
• Select Tools from the menu
• Select Folder Options
• Select the View tab
• Click on Show all Files and Folders
• Select Apply to All Folders | Yes | Apply | OK.

Go to Start->Run, type CMD and click Ok. The MSDOS window will be displayed. At the prompt type the following and press Enter after each line:

SC Stop pe386
SC Delete pe386
Exit

Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), please delete these files (if present):

Restart the computer. Let me know the outcome (Were you able to delete all the files?).

If after this, you are not able to boot in Normal Mode, run Msconfig.

Start->Run, type Msconfig and click Ok. Select the startup tab. Deselect All items from that lisk, except for those line that pertain to your Antivirus. Click Apply, the on Close, restart the computer when
prompted.

Upon restart you will be confronted with a dialogue box warning about running in selective startup. Just ignore that message and put a check in the box by "Don't show me this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" and click "OK". You will not be bothered by the message again.
