Thanks for a great thread.
I tried eagleT's solution, but my Dimension 3100 desktop uses 92xxd.
(glad to have system restore.)
EagleT, is there anything you learned with 92xxm that can be applied to 92xxd?
Thanks.

I've been searching for weeks now, trying to figure out how I can stream music and use my mike at the same time.
I have a XPS M1710 that has a Sigmatel sound card. I can get Stereo Mix, Line in and Mike to show up in the recording section...but it only allows me to either play Stereo Mix and not the mike, or the Mike but not the Stereo Mix. Seems I can't do both...

How can I blend the two components? In short how can I DJ so to speak, having music transmit and talk at the same time?

I'm probably making this about as clear as mud....

Ok...Will I am on MSN for example...I have a webcam running...I play some tunes via CD or internet...and want to talk at the same time. CAm works, but I can't talk and play tunes at the same time without having to switch back and forth....I'd like to do both at the same time...

Can it be done???? With a Sigmatel sound card?

Mimas,

What audio recording program are you using? And does your recording have to be live?

I use Audacity, a free audio recording program. It allows me to record a track in mono or stereo then I can record another track in the same window while listening to the first track. The settings to enable this are in the preferences.

I'm not sure this is what you are looking to do. But when both tracks are recorded you can play them back simultaneously. A little editing allows you to diminish the audio from one recording (ie. voice over music). when ready you can merge the two recordings then export the file to .wav, .mp3 (you need to download lame 3.97 and install it independently) or .ogg. The Audacity community continues to work on the program and updates / improvements come out every so often.

I've been DJing in yahoo chat for years and have always wanted to be able to introduce a song without having to switch between stereo mix and mic. it sure can be a pain in the butt. Any help with this would be awesome.

I had the same problem when I first bought my laptop. No stereo mix.
I finally figured out that I was missing the driver for my sound card.
I had to download one called " R171789.exe"
I still have the set up on my system but here's the link for it.

Good luck
