Just wondering if anyone out there has experienced anything similar.. the computer I use for work intermittently goes totally out of control...every few weeks of uptime I get windows and menus popping up all over the screen, not IE popups either (*Its NOT on the internet*), more like "my computer" "my documents" "right-click menus" etc.. they open then close like the machine was possesed and I have to do a cold reboot to regain control.
I guess the best way to describe it would be like when your PC freezes temporarily and you continuously click things until it "unfreezes" at which point everything you've been clicking comes up at once, only they do not stay open and you cannot regain control.
The computer is 2 hours away and only touched when something goes wrong...otherwise its behind closed doors.

Any thoughts?

My guess is that somehow you contracted some sort of malware... Maybe from installing things, who knows. Let's run a test anyway.

Please follow the procedures outlined here: Malware Removal Guide

You will need a PC which can connect to the internet

Run all the programmes as advised then post a current Hijack This Log in a new topic in the Malware Forum

For the purpose of accurate malware analysis, Hijack This Logs are only dealt with in the Malware Forum. Posting them anywhere else will result in a delayed response

If you are unable to run any of the programmes, please ask for advice in the Malware Forum
