UNWANTED VERTICAL BLUE LINE

I HAVE A PERMANENT BLUE LINE NEAR THE CENTER OF MY SCREEN FROM TOP TO BOTTOM-NEVER GOES AWAY. WHAT IS THIS?

This is a string of dead pixels, if the monitor is new I'd contact the place you got it from. If the screen is old or has been used for a while it may have been hit with something or the pixels may have just died. It rarely happens but it is possible - most manufacturers don't replace them if they have 1 or 2 blue pixels, considering this is an entire line I think they may make an exception (if it's new)!

On my compaq the limit was 5 pixels before replacement under the mfr's warranty -under one year...
