...I've always had similar results with drive mapping via batch files/login scripts......I've tracked down a lot of the errors to NIC cards not initiating during bootup (if the computers where shutdown overnight)...usually once they start their computer for the first time during the day...something wouldn't map here or there....but once the system finishes startup...if they log off (not restart) and log back on...everything would map as it should....I've tried a multitude of workarounds for this (...mostly enabling WOL so the NIC card never shuts down) and some have helped but none have fixed anything completely.....that scriptlogic software that i suggested earlier has helped EMENSLY with the drive mapping issues though..
