ok run that memtest again for about 2 hours and report back

The laptop will not boot into normal mode or into safe mode. It gets to the "Windows has encountered a problem" and gives the boot choices, but you can't select any of them.

I put the Memory test CD in and it did boot from it, so the memory test is running now.

The memory test found nothing wrong. We also swapped out memory and it would boot once, then not again. We tried running Linux from a CD and it would run one version one time and not again. Tried another version and it ran it once, then not again.

The computer will be on its way back for repair.
