I double clicked on a file on my storage hard drive, my computer locked up completely, and after i restarted the drive no longer showed up in My Computer. I can see it in the BIOS, and in the device manager the other three hard drives show up along with a "disk drive". I ran an old version of GetDataBack, it went for 3 hours and when it was finished it came up with nothing (the navigation screen was blank). I got a newer version and it is running now but it is looking the same. Any ideas?

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. You could try running the hard drive manufacturer's diagnostics program on the hd. You will find a link to most hd manufacturer's diagnositcs at http://forums.pcper....isplay.php?f=40 See the sticky post at the top of the forum. Spinrite6 is another possible option, at http://www.grc.com/sr/spinrite.htm
