I have an IBM T20 laptop that will not go. When I push the power button, I get a momontary flash on the hard drive indicator light then nothing. I almost acts as though the power button switch was bad. I took it to a local (I am in Italy) service center, Thay were unsure what the problem was. Thay said for $300 they might be able to fix it. I said no thanks and now I have nothing. If nobody can offer a solution, I have a second question. I really liked that computer. If I have to replace it what current model/models of IBM laptops can I use my Ultabay drives?

Welcome bobs1934 <_<

Sound like it's probably the power supply. Power supplies fail often in laptops becasue of their compact size, and high operating temps. Maybe somebody else can provide more insight, but $300 sounds expensive.

Just a quick search shows the t30's use Ultrabays. :D

Hi

Just a suggestion, but have you tried removing the battery completely from your laptop before powering up, and just running on mains?

I once had a laptop with a fried battery, which presented these symptoms...
if it works replace the bat, if not sorry!
