The L button doesnt work on my girlfriends laptop, you can press down and it wont work, you have to hit it a few times. Can I just pop this off and clean it then put the key button back on?

depends on the make and model of laptop, best to ask the maker's site for these things

It would probably be easier to replace the keyboard.

Around $35 to $60. I've never had any luck fixing any of them. Usually just ruined the keypad so it won't stay on the keyboard anymore.
