Hi yah,

Currently, I have Intel Processor 4 on my Windows XP Home Edition. I want to upgrade it to a higher intel processor like 5 and above because the scanner I want to buy requires Intel Processor 5 and above or any equivalent.

I visited intel.com and found some bootable processor downloads.
http://downloadfinde...upport_Download

However, I don't know which ones are suitable and what kind of changes will they cause on my PC.
Please tell me which ones are safe to download. And can I undo this boot too when I do a system restore?
Also, are these downloads the ones that I need cause I think Intel Processors are hardware-like chips that I need to put somewhere on my CPU.

Thanks in advance! :whistling:

Please give us the exact specs of your computer (manufacturer and model, if able), and the model number or a link to the scanner you're refering to?

Scanner System requirements

PC with Pentium ® (586 and up) or equivalent processor
USB port
Microsoft Windows 98
32 MB RAM or more
200 MB available disk space
VGA monitor (256 colors)
CD-ROM drive

Where it says 586 or higher. 586 means Generation of processors, you are well within the range. Your 2.5GHz is a 786 generation.

No need to upgrade anything, except possible add some more memory

The Intel site is for intel boards and Intel Chipsets, only download these if you have an intel board or intel chipsets.
