OK. There's still one service that could be causing this. We tried to get it earlier but my fix was not correct. Let's give it another go, just to be sure.

• Remove Bad Services
  • Go to Start->Run and type in notepad and hit OK.
  • Then copy and paste the contents of the following Quote box into Notepad:
    
    

    sc stop "BackWeb Plug-in - 4476822"
    sc delete "BackWeb Plug-in - 4476822"
    del delete.bat

  • Save the file as "delete.bat". <== Make sure to save it with the quotes.
  • Double click delete.bat.
• Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below being careful to get only these:

Well, that log is clean and at this point I don't think the remaining problem is Malware related. I honestly don't know what is causing it though, jme. You may want to post a new topic in the XP OS Forum and see if you get any better ideas. I will leave this topic open for the time being, just in case something arises.

  It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.
