So I use Suse Linux 10.1 and I finally learned how to install my first peice of software from source. It was a citrix client so that I could log into my computer from home. It worked great and I used it. Next thing you know though I am Just moving the mouse along getting ready to play some MP3s and BAM my screen fizzles blank. I have an Nvidia video card. I couldnt figure out what the heck happened. I had pulled the video card out tried re installing it and it still didnt work so I figured the card was fried. The computer was off for about a week. And one night I decieded to plug back in the card and plug in a different monitor and vwola it works I struggle to get it to connect to the internet for awhile and then io do a reboot when i reboot BAM monitor goes blank again and it wont come back on... Also now when I turn on the computer the thinking light stays solid no matter how long I leave it on... Is my computer fried??? Any ideas???

It sound a bit like dependency H3LL. On my first Debian system after recompiling the kernel for various hardware on the machine all kinds o f strange things seemed to happen. Things that work before would stop running and once the whole system died and I had to start over. The current kernel is much better but still compiling source can be hard on a system when the dependencies conflict or are not met.

If you have a Live CD try to boot from it and see if your machine will boot and run.
