hi, i have a problem with wolfenstein enemy territory, it worked fine before but after the Format:C/E and graphics card driver update it dosent work anymore, whenever i go in to the game, i can play about 15 minutes, and then i get this error message: microsoft visual runtime library Runtime error! progra: E/wolfet/ET.exe abnormal program termination

i really need help

rockholic, before I can help you I need some more information. what operation system are you running and what service pack do you have? You can find this info by right clicking on "my computer" and choosing properties.

im having the same problem

my operating system is windows xp pro (in fact i have 3 os installed: 2 times XP pro and also windows 2000, but the one i use is XP pro)

i have installed service pack 2


before i installed the two other os, everything worked fine, but now i get the "abnormal program termination" error, just like Rockholic.


could it have anything to do with the fact that there are more than 1 os installed?

Yes, very likely. why do you have some many os's?

well thats a long story

i dont want it anymore now, but once i needed the a second os
because my xp cd isnt bootable, i installed 2000 and upgraded to xp, but the 2000 os remained. i dont know why

then when i didnt need then anymore, i formatted the D:\ drive (the xp im using is on the C:\ drive) but both 2000 and the xp i dont use wont go away from the list with os. However i cant boot from them, i can only boot the xp im using

if you know how to get rid of the other os i would be very greatfull

Her Man: I suggest a complete format and reinstall of xp. check this out on making xp bootable. It may or may not apply to your case.

graphics card isn't the fastest out there, but should be able to run it. go here for driver updates

Being that you are only running 256megs ram and also on a celeron you would benifit by add more memory.

Hi Rockholic,

I'm getting the same error with ET. Except that I get it emmediatly at the beginning of the game when I click on "play online". Game used to run well on same PC and same OS (XP SP2) but problem started after reinstallation.
I'm using 512 Mb RAM, and an NVIDIA GFORCE MX440 with the latest drivers.
Seems to be video related.
ET without patch 2.60 shows scrambles video. With patch 2.60 this problem.

hmm, u know. that patch actually made it worse!
now when i play, it stil shows the same error after some time.
and then it crashes my pc hoplessly.
any body knoes, how to remove patches and how yo install older Nvidia drivers?
im quite sure that it has something to do with the updated driver, cuz like i said when i had an old driver, the game worked perfectly

unless the patch has an "uninstall" under add/remove programs then you will have to reinstall the game.

nvidia drivers have to be removed via add/remove programs.
reboot after uninstalling. if it detects and attempts to reinstall the driver, just cancel out of it. to download older versions: http://www.3dchipset...l/nt5/index.php

In an attempt to solve the problem I unistalled my NVIDIA display driver (I was running Geforece FX driver version 7.18.4 on a Geforce FX440 video card working under bios version 4.17.0048). I reinstalled an ald driver from CDROM (version 6.14.01.4351) . The PC now crashes even harder. Complete black-out without the C++ runtime error.
Microsoft reported this:
STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER
which indicates that it is the video card for certain.

They advice to load the newest video driver or else a workaround:

Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Display.
2. On the Settings tab, click Advanced, and then click the Troubleshoot tab.
3. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider to None, and then clear the Enable Write Combining check box.
4. Click OK, and then click OK.
