I am using a new HP Pavilion, AMD, XP and I have no idea what I am doing.

I was in the middle of a game and it suddenly disappeared. I tried to get the start menu, but it just "quivered." Since this was the first time it had happened (it has happened 3 or 4 times more) I didn't know what to do so I pushed the cont/alt/delete and it didn't work. Then I tried just turning it off and it kept popping back up. I don't know how I finally got it turned off, but I did.

When I restarted the computer, it came up in a boot mode that said:

Boot first device

HDD Group
--3rd masterst6250824as

CD-ROM Group
--hl-dt-su v drrw gsa-h21l

Every time I restart I get the same thing.

I called HP for help and he had me pushing f5 and f10 and then clean up my computer. It didn't help. I called another tech support and they wanted to send someone out to redo everything. I got read of a virus on my old computer with the excellent help of Geeks on the Go so I am back.

How do I get my computer to start up the way it is supposed to? Are you as confused as I am?
